Yes, we’re open, and handling our operations safely and responsibly.
It’s been almost a month since our last update. In that time known tested positive cases in the USA have grown from about 3,600 to 580,000. Yes, we still think it’s a big deal, and we’re still following the procedures outlined on our home page.
We’ve donated some rooms to the local hospital, and nurses and doctors are staying here in order to keep the rest of their households safer.
Our other guests have been essential workers traveling to industries in the area, and a few freedom-loving anti-authoritarian types. While we’re proud to have the Gadsen flag in our cultural heritage, remember its origins. Our enemy now is not King George, not each other, but a disease that spreads so fast it easily overwhelms our vulnerable health care system.
So do the right thing, please. We will. And we’ll be here when you can safely come up for a visit.
I’m reminded of the end of the poem Desiderata:
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
